You Say Pins And I Think Lapel

I hadn't given it much thought until I was asked to write this article, but I have to admit, I really like wearing pins. Not big gaudy pins or anything, just ones that will catch your eye and say, "Hey, this gal likes...". A few years ago my friend and I were visiting some bazaars around the holidays and found a couple of really cute pins. Rheindeer to be exact...

On my lapel right now, and since 1991 I have a metal flag pin with a yellow ribbon below because I never forget our military. I have a pin with the Marine Corps emblem on it from when our son was in the military.  Right now, I'm looking at the PinMart website and they have over a 1000 pins in their topic categories for everything from awareness to animals, fun and fashion, and sports to volunteers. Of course, those six are just a few of the many to choose from. I was surprised at the variety.

It occurs to me that some of these pins would make great little stocking stuffers or hostess gifts in the coming months. If you're looking for a specific pin and don't see it in stock, no worries, they can make it for you at PinMart. They have lanyards too!

Tibetan Singing Bowls: We Have Two Of Them

Tibetan Singing Bowl

Way back in the 1980's when I was more into metaphysics, I aquired two Tibetan singing bowls. They don't "sing" in the true sense of the word, but they do emit a sound that is unique to each handmade one.  Mine are two different sizes and they fit comforatbly in the palm of my hand while I use the wooden tool that came with them to make them vibrate.

The challenge is to go around and around the outside of the bowl with the wooden dowel like tool and keep it up until it feels just like the bowl is going to jump out of your hand. It's not easy to get it to sing, but once you get the knack of it the singing bowl rewards you with the most fascinating sound.

Singing bowls come in many sizes and mine just happen to be smaller than some others I've seen. If you're looking for a unique gift for someone, I promise they will love a singing bowl.
