The Garden Went Wild!
There’s such a difference in our garden this year as compared to last year. We did three things differently though:
- Each bed got newly amended soil with chicken manure, Miracle Grow water retaining soil, and some added perlite as well.
- In May and June we had many days of sunshine, warm temperatures and gentle “million dollar rains”.
- The head gardener has made sure that he thinned out the plants to keep them from getting too crowded as well as watering if too many days go by without rain.
We’ve already harvested some fresh kohlrabi, radishes and there is a green pepper just about ready to pick this week too.
As you can see from this photo collage, the left picture shows the garden as it was just getting started in May. The right photo was taken today. The left photo was taken in morning, the right in late afternoon.
Here are some other view of the garden taken today that I think you will enjoy.
We also have green beans and lemon cucumbers coming on. The gardener says he is going to pick the beans today and so it looks like we will be enjoying a "mess" of beans for dinner. I think we're still gardening organically, and will be doing so for the years go come.
