Slide shows like the one below always get my gardening juices flowing. It is May now, and even though we did have a light frost here this morning in Port Orchard, WA, we are still planning out our garden and what we want to plant this year. Call me crazy, but my main wish is to always have kohlrabi. It takes a long time to grow, but I love eating them raw or cooked.
In past years we've tried potatoes, and they did fine, but we aren't going to grow them this year. I do want to try some container herbs this time around though. It's just a way of prioritizing. We'll still grow tomatoes though, and maybe some green beans. We always have a "fight" over bush ones vs pole. Jim wants to try pole beans this year. Since I still have a whole bag of green beans frozen from last year, maybe it's time to try the pole variety.
I think Mother's Day might be the first safe weekend to plant here though. The radish, carrot and kohlrabi seeds are pruchased and ready to go in the ground! What are you planting this year?
