It's All Better Than Going To The Laundromat
We've lived in this house since 1992, and all through the last 20+ years I've done laundry in the garage summer, winter, spring and fall. Each season brings a unique challenge of heat, cold, debris and the ever-present clothes baskets. I know, “like this is a problem”, huh? Well, here’s the deal. We have a car parked in the garage and it's just a few feet from the front of the washer and dryer.
I’m ashamed to say I just had clothes baskets lined up on the floor in front of the bumper of the car, and in an effort to keep them somewhat clean on the bottom (they many times get toted into the bedroom and placed on the bed as we put clothes away) I had a runner underneath them. Having clothes baskets all lined up like that just seemed less than ‘swanky’ though, so when I saw a clothes sorter on sale online at Penney’s I nabbed it.
The benefits will be that the sorter rack is more vertical and yet hold as much as a basket. No, seriously, they do! The sorter is just about as convenient as the baskets though. Each mesh bag hangs on the rack and can be easily lifted out and as I turn towards the washer I take one step and can empty the whole bag right into it. I do have to be careful not to bang the metal handles of the bags on the washer is all. Truthfully, I don’t even have to lift the bags out, I can just reach in them and get a couple handfuls of clothes and plop it in the washer too. I should mention the bin is on wheels and it's just as easy to roll it a couple feet, but not very practical if all the bags are full.
So, the assets of having this sorter bin are:
- Each cloth mesh bag in the bin is lightweight and easy to handle
- Keeps the clothes off the floor
- Four sections in the bin make for easy sorting
- Each bag can be washed if necessary just by removing the metal handles
- Frees up laundry baskets for folding laundry and carrying it to another room, with no garage floor dirt and debris on the bottom of the baskets to soil the bed spreads.
Price: It was on sale at Penney’s for $65 and free shipping.
