Our family tree has increased by one today with the arrival of our new granddaughter Shelby Paige Wilkerson. She was born just after lunch time and weighed 6 pounds 5.6 ounces and was 19 inches long. As you can see from the photo taken just minutes after her birth, she has a lot of hair, just like her older sisterKatrina did when she was born in 2001. Older brother Garrett is going to have his hands full with two "pesky" little sisters!

Previously, you had to go to Redmond or a reseller to get your Microsoft products. That is until now. They have opened their online Microsoft Store that already features over 300 items, with more to come in the near future.

Quite a few of our family members have Xbox consoles and are adding more games and accessories all the time. XBOX 360 - Meet the new FAMILY game night. Shop now at Microsoft Store! If you've been waiting until now to get your Xbox, this might be a very convenient way to shop for it. I mean, who the heck wants to brave the cold and snow, not to mention the crowds currently returning gifts?
One of the things I really need is a new mouse, so I am going to check out the store and see what selections they have.

As you can imagine, first and foremost on my mind is the imminent arrival of our newest granddaughter, Shelby. The doctor told Jenn that he will be at the hospital on the 31st and the 1st if she wants to have the baby then (be induced). Tomorrow is our son's 37th birthday, but he hates his day of birth. Well, he used to, until he got older. When he was little no one was around because it was Christmas vacation. I told him we could start celebrating his birthday in July or something. He declined. His daughter Katrina's birthday is July 19th.
Speaking of Katrina...First of all, no, she wasn't named for the hurricane because she was born in 2001, long before that nasty storm was even forming. But the fallout is that ever since that hurricane there is nothing in stores with her name on it. She was so thrilled when she opened one of her gifts from us and it was a zippered personalized pencil case with KATRINA right on the side. Score 1 for this grandma!
I think we will always refer to the Christmas of 2008 as the 'stay at home Christmas'. Most of our family and friends that have had snow, or their right minds, stayed home and celebrated by themselves. The exception would be those people who live where there wasn't any snow...like southern CA in the lowlands like our kids. At some point, you just don't try to "push the river", meaning why make the effort if it's (1) dangerous (2) foolhardy, or (3) snowing like it hasn't done in the last 100 years. Yes, I exaggerate. Our friends Ron and Diana did come over on Christmas Eve, but only because they were without power and we had ours.

Our robins stay here year round, and this one obviously thought it was a good day to take a bath. We have a heater in the birdbath to keep a water source open for our feathered friends. My camera didn't catch the flapping of the wings he was doing, but you can see the droplets off the side birdbath rim.
Our snow came down powdery, but it's morphed into the packable type now. Good enough for this wimp to go out and make a quick snowman. The ribbon makes it look more feminine, but a snowperson it is!

We hardly ever have snow storms that last for days and have such cold temperatures, but this storm is the exception to the rule. I thought you might like to see some of the pictures from the last few days. They are predicting this kind of weather to last through next week too. Rod Blagojevich has to be the epitome of the male political ego, doesn't he? What could be going through his little tiny brain to convince him that he is going to get to stay in office? Legally speaking, I have no idea if the wire taps with their damning conversations would be admissible in court to convict him, but just hearing the tapes on the news tells me that he is a scumball and should not trip on his way out the door.
What audacity to get up there today and tell the world that he is going to fight this "until his last breath"!! If he had any integrity at all he would admit his guilt and do what's best and step down. But that's not going to happen and his staying in office just proves what a moron he is. I mean, this guy believes his own PR. Methinks he has taken one too many blows to the head in the past.
What do you think? Should he waste more taxpayer money and have to go to trial to get his sorry butt out of office, or should he just concede defeat and go quietly into the night?
