The 545 People Responsible For All Of U.S. Woes

Norway_rat

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits? Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes?

And, on that same note, why does anyone find it surprising that McClellan has written a scathing book about the Bush administration? It can only be one of two things...

1. He was a mole sent there to get the fodder to write the book. Or,

2. He is just showing his true colors as the type of low-life scum the Bush Administration would hire.

I plan on watching his interview by Wolf Blitzer in the Situation Room tomorrow night. Should be interesting as McClellan tries to explain himself.

I predict that you will see more and more surprising things coming out of the White House as the election approaches and the rats continue to desert the ship. Don't be surprised if you see Bush signing some pretty crooked bills and anything else he can manage before he leaves in January. On that last day, there will be some dastardly doings!

I Coined A New Word - Dooficity

Dscf0001_2

Dscf0002

After hours and hours yesterday, we (Jim is the wiring guru) finally got the TV, DVD recorder, receiver and cable box migrated from the old table to the new "media" center. Trouble is, we didn't eat until around 9:30 last night and we were both dog tired, so by the time all the spaghetti wires were all in place and everything was plugged in, when we went to turn it on the TV to watch the news all we got was a message saying the cable would find our channel "soon". Hmmmm...methinks we are guilty of dooficity.

Dooficity: adverb?; Guilty of being incompetent.  (Combination of doofus and complicity).

com·plic·i·ty     [kuhm-plis-i-tee] Pronunciation Key -  noun,  plural  -ties. the state of being an accomplice; partnership or involvement in wrongdoing: complicity in a crime.

doo·fus (dfs)

n. pl.  doo·fus·es  Slang
An incompetent, foolish, or stupid person.

[Perhaps blend of doof, fool (from Scots) and goofus, fool (from goof).]

What's Wrong With This Picture?

*I can think of a couple things, but what do you see wrong with this picture?

Flag_boy

Of course, there is everything right with this picture: a young boy helping to place flags on this Memorial Day in remembrance of those who have served their country.

Maxwell Thomas Watne, 8, uses his screwdriver to gently tap the top of a flag for a maker at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Bremerton Friday. Watne was helping his neighbor, Boy Scout Michael Strong of Troop 1541 from Silverdale Lutheran Church, place flags. The boys were preparing the cemetery for a service at Forest Lawn scheduled for Monday. (Larry Steagall | Kitsap Sun)

* I just thought that someone should have shown this boy a way to hold the wood shaft of the stick down low enough with both hands to gently ease it into the ground; I doubt if he had a lot of success with the screwdriver. Hey, at least he was there, and he was giving it a good effort!

Music From A Butchered Tree

Thieves Cut Down Maples In Search Of Rare Wood

The chain saw noise at 3 AM gave it all away....

I don't even know how to express my disgust at this act of butchery by two grown men. Greed and total disregard for nature, and the result is not only the loss of the trees, but the ecosystem has been impacted as well. No doubt, the court will slap them on the wrist and let them off with just a fine and jail time served. Too bad they outlawed the stocks and pillories. I'd be all for that!

Somewhere, an "Ent" is crying...

Read the article, and if you can, plant a tree in remembrance. And, listen for chain saws in the middle of the night.

iPentimento Busted By MidPhase

Somebody broke my blog!!

I don't know what they are doing over at MidPhase, but they sure aren't hosting my other blog iPentimento. I started having problems with the blog on Saturday, just when they started doing some maintenance, but the blog was up and running last night. Then, this morning when I wanted to put a post on the blog, it was just not there. No way to log in, nothing. I checked MidPhase's Status blog and this is what I found.

ESC21 undergoing FSCK

By Sebastian Ostrowski | May 17, 2008

ESC21.midphase.com required a file system check (FSCK). We do this in order to maintain the integrity of the drives and to prevent future file corruption. We have no current ETA but we are trying to get it up as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Anyway, if you look for iPentimento and can't find it, don't blame me. I even went so far as to write to MP/AN today but got no answer so far. Maybe the next step is to call them? I just hate it when crap doesn't work right! Grrr! Sorry this is happening. Maybe I will have to get a new blog host. Any suggestions?

Ring Around The Lava Dome

I really wanted to have the title to this post as Ring Around the Lava Dome, Hang On It's Gonna Blowsy. :)

This was just interesting to me, as an inhabitant of Washington state, home of Mt. St. Helens. I am always fascinated by how nature and our planet react to natural events. In this case, a volcanic eruption that began 28 years ago today, on May 18th, 1980. When the volcano blew that day, there was already a glacier on the mountain that was carried along with the mix of debris into the atmosphere. Now, the glacier reformed, but around the new lava dome.

NASA has some amazing pictures from the USGS showing the growth of the dome and the glacier that rings around it.

Mt_st_helensusgs

Even though I grew up in Washington state, I wasn't living here in 1980. We were living in Iowa then, and I remember worrying about my parents and my brother Dave and his family who were not too far from the volcano. As it turned out, they weren't hurt, but they all got their share of volcanic dust. Nothing like the places that got it in eastern Washington and even further to the east than that! What we did see in Iowa took a few days to get there. We were outside at our son Greg's baseball game and I was sitting in the grass with some of the other moms. The skies where clear, but in Iowa, a storm can come up very suddenly, so when I saw this huge dark cloud I thought that's what it was. But instead, it was the dust cloud from the volcano. What was so weird about it was that it was so big, so dark, and so quiet. Many of the other people didn't even notice it going over! As it turned out, in July of 1980 we moved back to Washington state and so we had essentially 'front row seats' for the following eruptions. So, where were you when the volcano blew?

Google Bloggers Should Be Complaining!

It seems like it happens all to often...I go to leave a comment on a Google Blogger blog and the comment pop up box is screwed up like below. It was happening some time ago too, and then the problem seemed to go away. I was just trying to leave a comment on "A Little Piece of Me" and ran into the same thing. It isn't just that blog though, it seems to be happening on other Blogger blogs. You would think the owners would complain.

Luckily, Claire is nice enough to have her blog settings so that you have several ways to leave your comment ID, especially the "name and ID" choice. I find that the easiest to use for me...how about you all? I like the bloggers that use the Google Blog service, but the format for the blogs leaves a LOT to be desired.

Saying It Like It Is: Casa D' Ice

I don't really think this can be classified as "humor", more like commentary. What do you think? I agree with most of the signs at Casa D' Ice. Have you visited their site, or seen the place in person?

Page And Brin Slapped Me Last Year Though

Google_slap

And to think, these all-grown-up-boys saw fit to "slap" me and a bunch of other people for working for PayPerPost last year! By reducing our page rank so that we were no longer able to get decent paying opportunities, they essentially got me fired!!

The "mistake" came from PPP relying on Google's page rank to gauge traffic, and really, I believe it was a personal dust up between the owners of Google and PPP. PayPerPost created their own popularity method by introducing SocialSpark. Per usual, it all came down to who was going to make money and lose money. The heck with the little people, right boys?

Get Your Doodle On Dude!

Q: Do you doodle?

A: Excuse me? Isn't that kind of personal?

If you doodle (and who doesn't?) make sure you participate in Doodle Week from May 8th to May 14th. Claire has started this and I have been trying to decide all weekend just what I could doodle. I may not be able to participate on all the days since I have houseguests arriving on May 7th and I will be busy with them until May 10th. That doesn't mean you all can't join in so I can see what you doodle! I hope Doodle Week turns into a craze and we are all doodling our brains out. Or not. Doodle on Dude!
