If you are really serious about writing a good blog that people will read, then you will have to do some reading of your own. There is a ton of information being given freely and daily by the pioneers of blogging, so why shouldn't you take advantage of it? People like John Chow, for instance, will help you improve your blog if you take advantage of his suggestions. Today, I am taking his advice about The Importance of Deep Linking, and doing a little bit of it myself. I don't know that he is still doing the free linkbacks, but if not, that is ok. I still recommend his site and suggest you visit it too.
He talks about deep linking to your own articles too, like some of my earlier posts this week which include Getting Our Ducks In A Row about our impending home improvement project for our family room; United States Newspapers which explains why using this one site can be helpful in your genealogical research; and Medal of Honor, A Clarification of the Name . This last article refers to the Medal of Honor bestowed on a resident of my community, Major (Ret) Bruce P. Crandall, and our own family connection to the medal and its true name.
Once you admit to yourself that you don't know everything, it is so much easier to learn new things. It opens the door to opportunities that you may not have anticipated.
